I use a general-purpose mix but they rot on me.
I noticed this recently and since then I can't stop thinking about whether I should intervene or not. I don't want to rush, but I also don't want to be too cautious and make things worse later.

Mix 60% inorganic: coarse sand, perlite or volcanic gravel. They need extreme drainage.
Over time I learned that touching less usually yields better results. There isn’t always a single right way; it depends a lot on each plant.
